Protecting Your Job When Your License Is on the Line DWI Defense for Commercial Drivers & Professionals in Williamson County

If you’re a commercial driver living or working in Williamson County, a DWI can threaten your career, not just your driver’s license. CDL holders face stricter standards: a BAC of just 0.04% is enough to put your job in jeopardy. A conviction may come with mandatory reporting to your employer or state licensing board.

Know This: Occupational licenses do not apply to commercial vehicles. If you’re a CDL driver, taking early action with a lawyer is essential.

DWI attorney Jason Trumpler can build a fast, strategic defense designed to preserve your livelihood by challenging flawed BAC results, pursuing pretrial resolutions, and more. Our goal is to help you stay on the road and on the job.

Underage DUI Comes With Stiff Punishments

The State of Texas has a zero-tolerance stance when it comes to minors who drink and drive. While those 21 and over can have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of up to 0.08% before facing charges, underage drivers who have any detectable amount of alcohol in their system while operating a vehicle can be charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUIA). For offenders under age 17, this can result in a $500 fine, 60-day license suspension, community service, and alcohol education classes. For offenders ages 17 to 20, punishment can include $2,000, up to 180 days in jail, and a one-year license suspension.

Because Williamson County is close to the University of Texas in Austin, police may be more alert of underage motorists who are potentially driving under the influence. If the underage driver has a BAC above .08 percent, they can also be charged with a DWI.

A DUI/DWI charge can interfere with attending school, working, and having a social life. Contact our firm if you're an underage driver who is dealing with a DWI charge.

Were You Arrested in Georgetown? We Can Help

Georgetown is a fast-growing suburb about 30 miles north of Austin, Texas. The city's proximity to major highways like Interstate 35 and State Highways 29 means that drivers traveling to and from Georgetown may encounter more police than in other areas of Central Texas, leading to a higher risk of receiving criminal charges like DWIs.

If you are ever arrested for a DWI or another charge in Georgetown, Williamson County, call our lawyer so our team can coordinate your bail and start working on your criminal defense

Challenging Your Field Sobriety Test

A field sobriety test is one of a few tests police may use to determine if you are too intoxicated to operate a vehicle.

Drivers are often asked to do these tests at night and in a location they're unfamiliar with, making them difficult to perform. The tasks drivers are asked to perform are often difficult for people who are completely sober. Meanwhile, conditions like an inner ear infection can affect balance, making the driver appear drunk when they are not.

While a police officer may present a field sobriety test as an objective measure, Jason Trumpler knows better. Our attorney can hold the officer accountable if they did not administer the test according to protocol. Meanwhile, if a condition other than intoxication influenced your performance on the test, Mr. Trumpler can make this clear to a jury.

Factors That Can Influence Your DUI Charge

BAC Level

The legal limit for BAC for adults in Texas is .08. However, DWI charges and penalties are likely to be more severe if a driver's BAC levels are .15 percent or above.

The Number of Offenses

Drivers in Texas face harsher penalties for their second and third DWIs, making it more critical to work with a qualified DWI attorney to get your charges reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor, or eliminated completely.

Child in the Car

A DWI with a child under age 15 in the car is an automatic felony in Texas. Offenders can face up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine, among other penalties.

Injuries or Death

If a DWI accident results in the injury or death of another person, the driver charged with the crime will likely face felony charges.

Mr. Trumpler's criminal defense services can reduce a felony charge to a misdemeanor, or result in charges being completely dropped.

“Went above and beyond.”
